Last week, we offered some examples of virtual games you could play with family and friends to stay in contact during quarantine — you can find that post here.

This week we wanted to discuss some of our favorite Board & Card Games! These Board & Card games are physical, so, unfortunately, most of these require you to be with your “Quarantine Crew.” However, there are some fun ways to adapt these for virtual situations which you can check out in the video later.

First off, if you are serious about playing Board & Card Games then first off you need to organize a Game Night. Game Nights are a great way to bring the family or friends together and create a fun spirit of competition. Game Nights can also satisfy a group of all ages — young children can have a blast while parents have a cocktail! We put some or our favorite board and card games below.

Liar’s Dice — Liar’s Dice is one of my family’s favorite games. We call it by its proper name, BULLSH*T! You can play single hands where each player gets a set of dice, all players roll once, and the bids relate to the dice each player can see plus all the concealed dice. You can also play common hand games where there is one set of dice passed from player to player. The bids relate to the dice as they are in front of the bidder after selected dice have been re-rolled. You can check out the rules in more detail here.

Cards Against Humanity — Cards Against Humanity has become a modern classic and known as “the game for horrible people.” This game is essentially a dirty version of “Apples to Apples” and involves pairing words to complete a fill-in-the-blank — the funniest pair wins! You can even make your own deck online here — it’ll only take about an hour and cost $10! If you already have it and have gone through the deck too many times then you can buy extension packs to mix things up.

Aggravation — The goal of Aggravation is exactly what it sounds like: to aggravate your opponent by capturing their pieces. The game involves two to six racing around the board, with the first to reach home winning. However, there are twists and shortcuts along the way that spice up the game!

Cribbage — Cribbage is a classic two-hand game and has been around since the 17th Century! The game involves 2-3 people with a pack of cards and the “Crib” that is a 121 piece cribbage board — the first to 21 wins. You can read more about the rules here, or you can play online through your computer or phone!

Other Old Card / Board Games — If you are like us then your board game collection has likely been sitting on the shelf gathering dust for a few years, but this is the perfect opportunity to break them out. Go digging through that collection, and you may just be surprised what you find!
